![]() Also easier DPI Shift thumb button to press with its new shape. I am more for heavier mice (I used all of my weights on the previous models) and even though this one is very light (to my standards), I still find it comfortable to use to my surprise (I still use the old LS weights in the circle thing by swapping the cover since it doesn’t have any room for weights anymore). Have the Plus model and the RGB strip makes a dent in the mouse that I managed to get over but some people might find it annoying. The side buttons are clickier and are rounder than flat but didn’t bother me much, also the Left click bottom side button goes down way more so it’s easier to click on. The in between clicks portion is actually flush with the clicks so it can necessitate some adaptation (it made me realise how much on the edge of the click my middle finger was on the LightSpeed and I still rarely hit the middle part). The clics feel better imo, a tiny bit of adjustment needed but like idk what makes it better but there are a lot of moves/timing I would struggle to do in VALORANT that I managed to instantly and reliably do with this mouse (Neon backward slide timing if you know for example). For $80 I have no issues recommending the wired G502 X, it's just a little sad that RGB now costs extra.Used a G502 Proteus Core for 5 years, then the Lightspeed for 2 years and got that one for a week or two. None of the negative points are enough to put me off one of the best lines of mice ever to grace my desk, and the overall improvements certainly outweigh my personal preference. But FPS players with average sized hands are likely to be over the moon with the G502 X. Buy any G502 X or PRO Series Mouse and get a FREE mouse Pouch (4 colours to choose from)Worth 12.99. Featuring our first-ever LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches and HERO 25K sub-micron sensor. Redesigned to achieve an impressive weight reduction down to 89 grams. The new ergonomics do have the potential to alienate those with larger hands or who don't enjoy the sideways slant, and the weight reduction has meant RGB likers like me would need to spend substantially more. G502 X is the latest addition to the legendary G502 lineage. ![]() I personally regarded the previous model as the perfect mouse, and it's almost a shame to remove the weight it had behind it, though I do admit the ergonomic changes are likely better for my hand. ![]() I can't say there's a lot to complain about with this one. It's long and flexible enough that it doesn't get in the way, and although it's not braided like some of the previous model's cables, it doesn't snag or curl up. The wired version here is the evident choice for the sensible and frugal among us, and the wire actually doesn't create a detriment to the usability. It's certainly one way to separate the company's more utilitarian users from the rest, but $20 for some RGB LEDs does seem a little steep. The latter is the only one with RGB, which pushes the weight up 106g, over the wired version. The switches also require a tiny bit more force to activate but it does mean you're less likely to accidentally snipe your own teammates.Īs far as pricing goes, it's being shipped at roughly the same price as the earlier models: $80 for the wired version, $140 for the wireless version, and $160 for the G502X Plus. There's a slightly more resounding click to the newer switches, which is probably owing to a lack of internal components in order to improve the weight. It's not something that's easy to test, speed wise at least, though I've been sitting here clicking the G502 X next to its predecessor for a minute, looking a bit strange in the process, and I can't feel much difference. They're opto-mechanical, so they combine optical speed with a mechanical actuation. The thumb button in all its forms is a great addition that gives the G502 X that bit of extra customisability.Īnother change that's not so evident to begin with is the lightforce hybrid switches. Pair that with the fantastic thumb rest, longer buttons and you have yourself a superbly ergonomic mouse that boasts improvements we didn't know we needed from the Logitech G502 line. It's slightly skewed, similarly to those vertical mice that are all the rage at the moment in offices, which gives it superior ergonomics to the simple flat, front facing hand placement of the original design, without it taking an age to adjust. While my initial qualm was that the lower profile shell meant my wrist was leaning on the desk a lot, my hand has now shifted around to the intended position. The major difference comes in the form of the angle of your hand. It's an interesting stylistic choice, one that seems to mimic Logitech's overall shift toward a more inclusive range or peripherals-such as with the Logitech Color and Aurora collections, but it is stark and very likely to get mucky quickly if you've an affinity for munching snacks at your desk. While there are both black and white versions of the G502 X, both have white PTFE feet. One of the more obvious changes comes in the G502 X's colour options. ![]() ![]() Recently, the group has been working on a long-form video project with the sports and entertainment company Whistle, and entertainment company E1 Entertainment, titled, " Dude Perfect Trick Shots: Untold Stories," which takes followers behind 10 of their favorite trick shots. Taking into account the calibration constant of the capillary tube, these highly precise instruments report data in scientific units of mm 2/s, or centistokes (1 cSt = 1 mm 2/s). A measured sample volume of the fluid flows under the influence of gravity between two etched lines on the tube, and the time of flow is recorded. The petroleum refining industry is a major user of capillary viscometers (Figure 2), which like the flow cups, also measure kinematic viscosity. This type of measurement, where gravity is the driving force, is referred to as kinematic viscosity. As the ink level in the cup goes down, the shear rate at the orifice decreases because the weight of the ink remaining in the cup is less and less. The shearing action on the ink takes place at the orifice on the bottom of the cup. Returning to the cup method, note that this type of test uses the force of gravity to drain the ink out of the cup. This analytical procedure for simulating the shearing action with an instrument is the key to predicting flow behavior and leads to the selection of an appropriate viscometer to perform the test work that is required. For inks, the use of a rotational viscometer running at different speeds can simulate, in part, what is happening to the ink during transfer to a substrate. The “shearing action” that the material will undergo is the analysis that we want to focus on. ![]() When testing inks, or any material that flows, it is important to think about how the material will be processed or handled when in use. The problem turned out to be a matter of understanding “shear rate” and how it can affect the viscosity of the ink. But the cup method could not always discriminate successfully between inks that proved acceptable and those that were marginal or outright poor performers. This became one of the earliest quality control (QC) tests that checked systematically for viscosity in a quantifiable way. The cups were relatively inexpensive and anyone working the press could easily learn how to make the measurement. Printers developed a more scientific approach to viscosity measurement by using cups with holes in the bottom to measure how much time it would take to drain the ink (Figure 1). This rubbing action was, in essence, a viscosity test, the objective being to tell how much resistance was felt between thumb and forefinger. There was a time when pressmen could tell by rubbing an ink between their fingers as to how well it would perform “on press”. When the ink is too thick, smearing may result during printing too thin and there can be serious fading of the printed image. The printing ink industry is one of the best examples to illustrate the need for viscosity measurement. The only alternative in these situations is to find the proper authority at the manufacturer and obtain the relevant test details. To perform a valid verification check and confirm that the material is within specification requires a duplication of the test method used by the manufacturer. Data sheets for some polymer solutions, for example, may include a discrete number like 4,500 centipoise (cP), but no further information about how the measurement was made, not even the test temperature at which the polymer was measured. Raw materials in the chemical process industries (CPI) usually have a reported viscosity value on the data sheet that accompanies the product. Experiments have shown that the viscosity values obtained at 0.1 or 0.01 rpm can be several orders of magnitude higher than the one recorded at 20 rpm. When pumping asphalt, the startup torque required to get the pump going initially suggests that a second viscosity test at a much lower rotational speed makes sense. However, this straightforward single-point test does not provide the complete picture for asphalt flow behavior. Record the viscosity value, make sure that it falls within prescribed maximum and minimum limits, and then report whether the number passes or fails. ![]() The standard test method for pumpability, according to ASTM D4402, is to use a regular viscosity (RV) torque rotational viscometer at 20 rpm or a low viscosity (LV) instrument at 12 rpm. An important concept, sometimes forgotten, is that a material’s viscosity is not a single-point measurement, but often depends on a number of factors. This article reacquaints the reader with the basic concepts and terminology for viscosity and addresses techniques to quantify it. The bottom line is to come up with ways to measure viscosity so that you can quantify whether a material will flow the way it needs to. For handlers of all materials that flow, either while being processed or in an end-use, it is important to think about the materials’ flow characteristics. To be brief, viscosity is resistance to flow. Most engineers know what viscosity is, but may have trouble explaining it. When her mother got home, she was furious that Megan hadn't signed off.
